Day 1
Airport to Kandy
One of our team members will greet you at the airport and escort you to Kandy, the scenic hill capital of Sri Lanka. The first day is reserved for rest and recovery following your flight and journey to Kandy. You’ll spend the night at a comfortable hotel in the city.
Day 2
Kandy
After breakfast, you'll head to Udawatta Kele, a birdwatcher’s haven renowned for its abundance of bird species and easy access. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot birds such as the Layard’s Parakeet, Yellow-fronted Barbet, and even the Crimson-backed Golden-back.
In the evening, immerse yourself in Sri Lanka’s rich history and culture with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa). This sacred Buddhist site is home to a tooth relic believed to be a fragment from the Buddha’s funeral pyre. The relic is kept in a golden casket within the temple’s Inner Chamber, under strict security. The temple complex also features stunning paintings and sculptures of the Buddha’s life, as well as a museum that chronicles its history.
Later, enjoy a cultural experience with a traditional Kandyan dance performance. These performances, lasting about an hour, showcase vibrant costumes and dynamic dances that reflect the grace and speed unique to the Hill Country. You’ll spend the night at the same hotel in Kandy.
Day 3
Nuwara Eliya
You’ll be transferred to Nanu Oya, the nearest railway station to Nuwara Eliya (train ticket availability may vary). Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as ‘Little England’ by the British, is at the heart of Sri Lanka’s Tea Country. Your journey will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes in Sri Lanka's Hill Country. Along the way, you'll have a chance to view the majestic Adam’s Peak.
As you pass Hatton, you’ll enter the Poolbank Tunnel, the longest tunnel on this route at 562 meters. This tunnel has a unique curve in the middle, so one end is hidden from the other. Upon emerging from the tunnel, you’ll notice a dramatic change in the landscape—this is the region known for producing some of the finest tea in the world.
Sri Lanka is renowned for its tea, and it plays a central role in the culture, with tea being offered to guests in almost every household.
Before checking in at your hotel in Nuwara Eliya, take the opportunity to visit a tea plantation and factory to witness the tea production process firsthand—from raw leaves to the finished product. You will spend the night at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 4
Horton Plains National Park
After breakfast, embark on a breathtaking nature walk through Horton Plains National Park, a truly extraordinary destination. Renowned as one of the finest nature reserves globally, this park boasts tranquil landscapes and remarkable biodiversity. It serves as a habitat for diverse wildlife, including sambar deer, spotted deer, giant squirrels, wild boar, and the rare Horton Plains slender loris—a tiny primate found only here. The park’s unique mix of grasslands and montane forests sets it apart from other national parks in Sri Lanka.
To protect its delicate ecosystem, vehicles are banned, so the only way to explore is on foot with a guided tour. Must-see highlights include Baker’s Falls, the Chimney Pool, and World’s End—a dramatic 3,700-foot (1,130m) cliff offering stunning panoramic views. After your adventure, you’ll return to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya for another overnight stay.
Day 5
Kithulgala
After breakfast, depart from Nuwara Eliya and head towards Kithulgala, famous for being the filming location of the iconic 1957 movie The Bridge on the River Kwai. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy some relaxation until the evening. In the evening, embark on a Nature Walk in the Makandawa Rain Forest, which covers 192 hectares and is one of the oldest forest reserves in Sri Lanka. Known for its unique biodiversity, the forest is home to rare and endemic bird species such as the black eagle, trogon, Sri Lanka Orange-billed babbler, Chestnut-backed owlet, blue magpie, and Red-faced Malkoha, making it a paradise for bird lovers. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kitulgala.
Day 6
Kithulgala to Udawalawe
After breakfast, you'll be transferred from Kitulgala to Udawalawe, where an evening safari is planned for you. Udawalawe National Park is renowned as one of the best locations in Sri Lanka to observe wild elephants, and it's common to spot entire herds at a watering hole. The afternoon or evening safari will provide opportunities to see elephants along with various other animals like water buffalo, monitor lizards, saltwater crocodiles, deer, monkeys, and occasionally even a leopard. The park is also a haven for birdwatchers, hosting a wide variety of bird species. Overnight stay at a hotel in Udawalawe.
Day 7
Udawalawe to Yala
After breakfast, you'll be transferred from Udawalawe to Yala. Upon arrival at the Big Game Camping Site Yala, you'll have the opportunity to embark on an evening safari in Yala National Park. As the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka, Yala is divided into five blocks, two of which are open to the public. Located in the southeastern dry zone, it is renowned as the best place in the world to see wild leopards. With the expertise of our naturalists and guides, you'll be taken to the areas most active with leopards. Since leopards are nocturnal, the best time to spot them is during dawn or dusk. This evening safari will give you the chance to see leopards as they wake from their slumber. While leopards are the main attraction, the park is also home to elephants, sloth bears, deer, jackals, wild boars, and numerous bird species. Your overnight stay will be arranged at the Big Game Camping Site Yala.
Day 8
Yala to Ahungalla
You will be transferred from Yala to Ahungalla for a relaxing beach stay at one of the finest beaches in southern Sri Lanka. Spend the afternoon and evening unwinding at one of the world’s best beaches. The serene waters of Unawatuna Bay and Thalpe offer the perfect opportunity to sunbathe, take a leisurely walk along the shore, or enjoy diving and snorkeling in the calm waters. Your overnight stay will be arranged at a hotel located near the beach.
Day 9
Ahungalla
Enjoy a full day of leisure on the beach. You are free to explore the main attractions in Galle, including the 17th-century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique cultural and architectural style. Within the fort's walls, you'll find rustic houses and shops that reflect Dutch colonial influence. Galle city, a vibrant hub for fishing, transportation, and culture, is also a bustling metropolis due to its coastal location.
The final leg of this busy tour is designed as a relaxing experience on one of the world’s most pristine beaches. It offers the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate both body and soul, with the added delight of indulging in fresh seafood, making it a truly memorable experience.
